Leaking Pipe Work
The team were called to a domestic property where leaking pipework was causing localised flooding on a regular basis. On investigation, we found that the inner pipework to the stormwater tank had split and there were leaks on the pipework joints.
When water is under pressure if a pipe splits or a joint springs a leak the water sprays out with great force – and in this case resulted in parts of the garden flooding.
Pipework can deteriorate over time, resulting in cracks and splits. Your drainage system can be affected by ground movement (due to extreme temperature changes in the soil where it expands and contracts and during construction works where the ground is disturbed), by root ingress or by deterioration over time. Signs of split or cracked pipe work include localised wet patches, cracked walls, strong odors, and in this instance flooding. The signs of split pipes are not always apparent and sometimes the condition may only be confirmed through professional inspection by a qualified drainage expert. If the issue is not visible above ground our team can use a CCTV drain survey to locate the issue.
In some instances, if the pipework is underground we can provide trenchless repairs like drain lining which is a cheaper less disruptive option, but in extreme instances, we would advise on complete replacement of the pipework requiring full excavation and drain or pipework replacement.
It is important to ensure leaks are repaired as soon as possible – long term flooding can cause irreparable damage to your property which can result in expensive remedial work. Our drainage team can identify your issue quickly and resolve your drainage issue quickly and efficiently. Alton Pump Services carry out drain repair for: cracked, broken, leaking, split, deformed, and collapsed pipes and drains.
